Perfect example would be yahoo.

Yahoo! reported fourth-quarter earnings that beat analysts by $0.04 cents per share (forbes). However, Yahoo! also said it will cut 1,000 jobs from its workforce of 11,400 (forbes).
As a result, yahoo's stock fell more than 10% after hours yesterday.
Bottom line, read the article and understand that doing your homework before purchasing a stock will help you out.
